| Kuching | How many days? Posted: Sat July 28, 2007 03:38 PM UTC
Returning to Malaysia and visiting the other side this time!
Will be going to KL tomorrow to visit some friends, then plan to fly over to Kuching for a few days then up to KK and maybe Sandakan. My question is how many days should I figure to see the sights of Kuching and surrounding area? Also are hired drivers (that speak English) easy to find? As a rule I don't like fixed tours, since you stay on their schedule. I found having my own local driver gave me the freedom to see things at my own pace, as well as discover places not on the tourist maps. |

One full day would suffice to visit the city of Kuching. The attractions are all packed in the compact city center that can be easily walked around. Other than wandering around, I would definitely recommend a visit to the museums and a riverboat cruise.
Main attractions in the Kuching area are the "longhouses", communities of local indigenous upstream the Sarawak River. A visit can take from one day (the closest to the city and the most touristy) to few days if you would like to visit the inner communities. All in all, I would say a minimum of two full days as a baseline. Giuseppe

Have a look at this package just as a guide...
