Good Afternoon,
I'm driving from Philadelphia to Upton for an 11:00am meeting Monday morning and trying to decide if I can drive through or around New York City and get out to Upton by leaving early Monday morning or if I should play it safe and drive Sunday night. Can someone advise me on the best time or route to get around NYC and make it to Upton? Thanks! |

On a Monday morning there will be loads of traffic and not many ways around it. Sadly, Sunday night may even be worse with people coming in from the Poconos and the NJ shore. Recommend you allow loads of time Monday AM. Come up the Turnpike to the Goethals Bridge. Cross over and thru Staten Island and the Verrezano Bridge to Brooklyn. Take the BQE to the Long Island Expressway and go east on the LIE to William Floyd Parkway Exit 68. The hamlet of Upton is south of the LIE and off the WF Parkway. Because it is only a hamlet you will need specific directions - road signs will not help. BTW = coming off the Verrezano do NOT take the Belt Parkway. If something goes wrong on the Belt you can sit there for hours.
