| Málaga | Car Hire @ Malaga Airport Posted: Thu July 26, 2007 04:08 PM UTC
Having experienced the hell that is the car rental hall at Malaga, are there car hire companies that operate away from arrivals, ones that will pick you up at arrivals and take you to their offices?

We just returned from Andalucia and booked a car through Auto Flores (Leamington Cars) in Malaga. It was very simple, the car rental was very reasonable, and there were absolutely no hassles.
http://www.autosflores.com/ We gave our credit card in advance and reserved a car - we got exactly what we requested. Instructions are posted on their website and in their email confirmation. Be sure to print these out before you leave. You pick up the keys and instructions for returning the car at a window (some tourist office window) (not a car rental window) near the exit to the parking lot. There was no line at window, and we received our keys immediately, along with confirmation that my credit card had been charged. The envelope tells you exactly where the car is located. No contract to sign, no car rental hell hall. The car was there in the P2 parking lot in the stall indicated, we loaded up our luggage and took off. Car worked perfectly. No problems at all. We even were able to get an automatic (Ford Focus) for a reasonable price. Upon our return, we followed the instructions given to us. We parked the car anywhere in the P2 parking lot, and locked the keys and our parking ticket (received when we entered the lot) in the car, then boarded the plane. Again, no car rental hall hell. We didn't even have to tell anyone which stall the car was in. The company goes and finds the car after you return it. I definitely recommend this company. Karen

Hi Stuart,
There are well over 150 car hire companies registered in the province of Malaga and only 10 car hire companies have a desk inside the airport terminal, amongst them mutinationals like Avis, Hertz etc. All other rental companies will service from the public car park or offer a free courtesy bus service to there local offices, which are normally close to the terminal building. So if you want to collect the car outside the terminal building there is a lot of choice. Some companies I know of are Helle Hollis, Niza Cars or Car Gest, all of them have an outlet very close to the terminal building (less than 400 meters). You can book direct or use the service of online car rental brokers like www.hispacar.com instead. Funny enough this is usually a bit cheaper than going direct as they have volumen discounts with these car rental companies in Malaga. What you must not forget is, that most on-aiport car hire companies offer a wide network and normally cover all airports in Andalucia, like Seville, Jerez, Granada, Almeria and even Gibraltar airport. In case of a breakdown this can be an advantage as they will be able to resolve this problem quicker than a local company with just one office in Malaga, Torremolinos, Benalmadena or Nerja.
