Im hoping to travel to tokelau over the christmas holidays with a friend whose family lives on tokelau, how much will it roughly cost?

The return boat fare from Apia for a non-resident is NZ$300. Doesn't matter which atoll you are going to. It would be helpful for your host family to bring some groceries with you - tinned/dried. You can buy fresh fruit/veges at the market in Apia before you go. :-)
