if you please to indicate me decent 2-3 star hotels in alexandria with western standard rooms at a reasonable price.

I stayed in the Union Hotel, & found it very acceptable: clean and well-kept rooms. About 90 LE for an en-suite. Can't remember the address (it's in the Rough Guide) but it's just off the Corniche about three streets West of the Hotel Cecil.

I second LongTone's suggestion. Union Hotel's location - right on the Corniche - is its best asset plus the rooms are clean and decent. Paid USD 20 for a deluxe room (twin beds) with ensuite T&B (clean, sparkling tiles). Adddress is Sharia 26th of July - two blocks to the west from Sofitel. You may want to try this number - +203 4807312.

And if you ask nicely you can get arabian coffee rather than Misrcafe for breakfast.
