| Panglao Island | Alona Kew Resort Posted: Mon July 23, 2007 08:50 PM UTC
Hi!!
My family are coming to Panglao next March 2008 ... 2 adults & 2 kids. We have looked at most of the resorts on Panglao, and the Alona Kew resort looks quite nice ... Has anyone been there & if yes, what is it like? We are looking at beachfront accommodation ... Is this near the pool/restaurant etc.? What about mosquitoes & sea urchins? Is the beach ok for kids? Thanks for any advice/help/sugestions! Ian |

Been to Alona Kew, it's a pretty ok resort and not too expensive. Very friendly staff. I recommend you get the rooms facing the beach because the ones near the pool is a long walk from the beach. It gets especially chilly for kids to be walking in wet bathing suits too long. The beachfront rooms are near the restaurant, though this also gives you easy access and the opportunity to try out the other restaurants in the nearby resorts, since the Alona Kew menu is not very impressive (and the coffee sucks!)
I went there last February and there were hardly any mosquitoes, jellyfish, or sea urchins. Though seaweed occasionally get washed up on the shore and there are plenty of (dead) corals lying about 100 meters from shore. If your kids are very particular about this, I think you should get them swim socks or booties. :-)

good day to you,
with regards to your question about ALONA KEW, the beach is quite nice but little bit expensive. i recommend you to stay at DUMALUAN BEACH RESORT , its close to bohol beach club and the beach is very nice also. they have pool and restaurant that serves good food. there's also an alternative, if you want to stay in the city for a cheaper accommodation i can recommend a place for you to hang around, it cost you only php1,500 only with free breakfast, pool and a cable TV. if you need more assistance you can email this guy at bmanigque43@yahoo.com or txt him with this # 09066292280. he can help you and guide you on your vacation to bohol. GOOD LUCK and have fun.... GOOD BLESS...
