| Atlanta | City Centre Accommodation Posted: Mon July 23, 2007 12:20 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I have a 24-hour stopover in Atlanta in August, and was thinking of booking myself into a city centre hotel for the night, so that I can walk around town and do some sightseeing before going back to the airport in the afternoon. Can anyone recommend a hotel in the centre of town, which isn't too expensive? Thanks! Birgit |

Some places to try that I think are priced a bit lower (though I have no idea about quality--check reviews before booking):
Days Inn Downtown Hampton Inn Super 8 All are within a few blocks of GA Aquarium, World of Coke, CNN Center, etc. and you can take MARTA to and from the airport for $1.75 each way. I don't know your budget, but most downtown hotels are well over $100 a night. Though you may get lucky and find a deal at a nicer place (especially if there are no big conventions in town).

Seeing that it's only 1 night and that I would like to be somewhere central I would pay up to €100 max but would not really like to go over that.
Thanks a lot for the suggestions, I'll check them out!

I too can recommend the Hampton Inn downtown (www.hamptoninn.hilton.com). I stayed there about 6 years ago when I was in Atlanta for a job interview. The hotel is a refurbished older building so, it has a lot of character - not just your normal American cookie-cutter bargain hotel. I lived in Atlanta for 5 1/2 years so, I know the hotel is still in a good area - although I can't really recommend venturing out too far on foot alone at night. But you can easily walk to the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, Peachtree Center, and the MARTA train. Have a nice trip!
