| Ko Chang | phuket or ko kut? Posted: Mon July 23, 2007 04:03 AM UTC
Sorry in advance for the long post. I am going to Thailand in December - January with some Thai friends. I have been given the option of a 4 day/3night trip to Phuket or a 4 day/3 night trip to Ko Kut.
Previously, I visited Ko Samet with my friends which was very enjoyable. We stayed in a beach cottage on a fairly secluded bay with a very nice clean beach. There was a much busier beach a short walk away with many more tourists which was fun to see for an evening and good for food and drinks, but not really my thing. I preferred the quiet beach, walking, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, and the lovely locals we met. However, knowing that Phuket / Krabi / Phi Phi are considered some of the most beautiful scenic areas in the world, it is a bit hard to pass up a trip there. I also know that Ko Kut is going to be about half the price of a stay in Phuket. Can anyone with experience help me out with this decision? In Phuket, we would be traveling with a friend who lives nearby, so would having a car give us options to visit places more secluded but still spectacular? Can the scenery of Ko Kut possibly live up to the Andaman coast? |
