Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Royal Thai embassy
Posted: Mon July 23, 2007 02:50 AM UTC
Haloha,

Can anyone tell me if there is a Royal Thai embassy on either one of the Andaman or Nicobar Islands? I have been dreaming of this trip for a long time, got the visa for the islands now I only need to make sure I can get back to Koh Samui were I’m doing an Internship. For this I will need to renew my Non ED visa for Thailand and was hoping to do this on one of the islands or somewhere on my way to or from there.

Ps: any information on how to get there from Thailand and on were to find the best surf around half September would be greatly appreciated as well!!

To my knowledge there is no embassy of any nation in Andamans and Nicobar Islands. Also there are no regular sailings or commercial flights operating on regular basis from Thiland to these islands.

You can reach Port Blair the capital either from Chennai or from Calcutta and from no other city in India or abroad (unless ofcourse you have permission for a charted flight or a boat). One cannot exit from these islands to Thailand as there are no transportation.

Foreigners wishing to visit these these islands can get entry permit on arrival at Port Blair.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands are a part of Indian territiry. There are no foreign mission offices there. Permit to stay there (maximum 30 days) can be obtained from Indian missions abroad. Foreign nationals are not permitted to visit Nicobar islands. Indian nationals can visit Andaman without any permit. However, Indian nationals require permit to visit Nicobar Islands. Flight are operated from Kolkotta & Chennai to Port Blair.Direct flights from Delhi may start shortly.
