Hi There. I have some Miles& More miles that a I have to spend before september 30th. Swiss air tells me that I can spend my miles going from santiago to Sao Paulo. The problem is that I would be going alone...and from what i´ve heard , the city is more like a business center than a plcae for a woman tourist to go alone.
¿ is there a place near Sao Paulo where I could go for a short vacation, maily to rest?...I thought may be I could take the flight to Sao Paulo and then go to a place nearby.

I would recommend going to Florianopolis, and the island (Ilha de Santa Catarina) the island is quiet nice with some lovely beaches. It is about 700 kms from Sao Paulo so not exactly next door but it is a wonderful spot. This link might help you.

Either that or Rio. Or, indeed, Buenos Aires. Paraty, half way from SP to Rio, is lovely. Paulistanos go to the beach at Santos. But not SP for a holiday.

mmm Buenos Aires...I had thoought about that but Swiss Air doesn´t trake me there...maybe i should just forget about tryning to use my miles

...the photos you have in your San S page are lovely...is it easy for a non portuguese speaker to get there from Sao Paulo?

Sao Sebastiao is the name of the whole area. I would advice you to stay in the lovely Boicucanga. From there you can explore the beaches and the waterfall by walking. The surrounding with its lush vegetation is really stunning.

I went there by car from Sao Paulo but there are buses to Boicucanga as well. Well, I think you can go there without the knowledge of portugues (I guess you speak spanish and they usually understand each other) though it's always good to know at least some phrases of portugues.

Santos...just 1hr. by car from São Paulo.
Another place is Ilhabela, about 3hrs. from São Paulo.

Ilhabela it´s not noise at all...it´s a small town (about 25,000 people) located at an island at São Paulo´s north shore.

in August can be quite cold to go to the beach, perhaps you should consider a mountain instead of beach city
