Does anyone know if the shellfish in Skye is safe to eat, and which beach is best for collecting e.g. mussels, cockles, etc?

As the levels of algae vary constantly it is important to phone the Food Standards Agency (http://www.food.gov.uk/scotland/) to check the current status. I do believe that they monitor the afore mentioned levels. If you don't want to do the above, just ask locals and I'm sure someone will know.
