Hi,
No, you dont need a special visa for the West Bank. Once you are inside of Israel, you can visit Bethlehem, Ramallah etc. The easiest city to visit (i guess) is Bethlehem. You just take an Arab minibus from eastern Jerusalem (see my Bethlehem page). If it is safe to go to West Bank next year: I can't tell. Things can change quickly in this area so I cant really say anything about the situation next year. When I visited Bethlehem (2005), it felt very safe.

Hi,
i am currently living in Jerusalem, and travelling really often to West Bank. For me, the best (and easiest) city to visit is definitely Ramallah. It's very lively and the people are so friendly and welcoming (well, as in the rest of West Bank actually). I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you need more information.
