Kruger National Park car rentals

Sorry,

We have 1 additional question to our last post. Does anyone know if car rentals are available at the Nelspruit or Krguer Mpumalanga airports, as this could make a difference as to where we would land?

Thank-you.

Nelspruit and Kruger Mpumalanga airport are basically one and the same airport. (The old Nelspruit airport was down rated and their commercial flights mostly go to Kruger Mpumalanga). There are car rental companies operating there.

I believe Gerald answered your question regarding the airports, but just wanted to add that Nelspruit is a great, small, small airport.

I spend a week at KNP and did one morning drive through the Lower Sabie rest camp. The accommodation and parks at KNP are great and clean (in my opinion, but then again I am easy to please!). There are safari tents (with a hard surface, fridge, and beds), huts, bungalows, and other types of accommodation that are explained on the sanparks website. Not to mention super affordable. For most of the safari we did what they call a self drive which is very safe (I was timid and could not believe you could really do this). Doing the self drive was a great experience (I was with my husband) and I do not think we saw anything less or anything more than we would have if we were with a private guide the whole time.

I know I was not able to answer any of your ‘private’ accommodation questions! Maybe I have encouraged you that KNP rest camps are just great. :)

You will just love your time in South Africa, I am jealous. Any other questions, just ask!

Be well,

Nichole
