Livigno Travel Forum

We are travelling from Interlaken around the 4th of Jan 2008 and would like to ski somewhere for a day. We heard Lavigno is good but we need accomodation and we need to know how to get there. We are mostly travelling by EURail so I need to know which is the nearest town where the EUrail trains stop or what is the easiest way to get there?

From memory,to enter Livigno from Switzerland can only be achieved through a road tunnel. We did the opposite trip but many years ago(things might have changed)If you're driving, you must head towards Lucerne then onwards towards Davos. From Davos you must make your way toward St.Moritz but stay on the main road which will bring you into Italy.Again, it was a long time ago, but we stayed at the Hotel Alpina which was very comfortable and with easy access to the lift system.

Something just came to mind. I think you can use your EUrail tickets to get to Chur in Switzerland. When we did our trip, the only way from Chur to Livigno was by taxi but this may have changed.

Had you considered skiing in Switzerland. From Interlaken you can take the fenicular railway to Wengen where you can ski on parts of the Eiger
