| Medugorje | How to get to Medugorje from Dubrovnik port Posted: Tue July 17, 2007 12:07 AM UTC
Hi
I am in Italy with my family and we want to visit Medugorje. We can get a boat over from Vieste, Italy to Dubrovnik but we don't know how to get from there. I have a 10 year old son in a wheelchair so public transport can be a bit of a problem. Can anyone give me any help or suggestions as to how I can get there? Thanks. |

The easiest way would probably be to rent a car. Make sure you tell the rental agency that you want to drive abroad - you will need some additional insurance papers. Drive along the Adriatic highway, turn towards Metkovic and continue to Capljina. Then follow the local road to Medjugorje. You will need approx. 3 hours of driving.
There are organized tours to Medjugorje from Dubrovnik. For instance, Atlas travel agency (www.atlas.hr) has frequent ones, and they are one of best tourist agencies in Croatia. Maybe this would be an option for you? Unfortunately, it is a coach tour and coaches are not adapted for wheelchair users but since your son is only 10 I assume you could board him - if needed the staff will help. Hope this helps.

Medugorje, is apparently the 2nd most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world & if this gives you & your family comfort then the trip will not be wasted. It is extreemly commercialised though & as the previous respondent said there are lots of coach trips from Dubrovnik. This may be the most convenient way for you to visit.
You may want to take a look at our web page or VT page when we visited: http://kardrew.50megs.com/photo_20.html (need to disable your pop ub blocker) Good Luck to you and your son
