I am thinking to coming back from the Middle East to live in Lincoln next year.
I would appreciate any comments people may have about living in Lincoln, the good things, the bad things, and any general comments

Are you originally from the area and wonder about changes or why Lincoln?

I have my sister-in-law/niece-in-law there and although Lincolnshire itself is too flat for my liking, Lincoln itself is a nice and relaxed city. It has more life to it these days too as the university has grown. The only thing I wonder about is the water quality. There is 1) a lot of intense agriculture around 2) loads of old and new air bases with ar fuel. There has been suggestions that this creates some health problems. But that's about the only thing I can say as a negative aspect. Houses are still amongst the cheapest in England since it's not along the main London-Edinburgh line but they are now on the rise since there are now more frequent train connections to London daily so Lincoln is becoming a commuter alternative.

I live about miles from Lincoln - its an OK sort of place and all the major stores are there now. Eating out is good but I am too old to comment on the nightlife. Friends tell me the only downside is a lack of sports facilities - there is not even a good size swimming pool. House prices are good too and there are some nice areas around town to live. For a feel of Lincoln listen to Lincs FM on the net.
