Try the New Australia houseboat in the Dal. We stayed there last year and was lovely!

Hi:
Very recently I was in Srinagar. There we avioded staying in houseboat as our movment at will would have not been possible. So, just infront of Dal Lake we stayed in Hotel Zamrud. You must bargain the rate. Some time they reduce the rate up to 50 per cent. Food was very expensive in the hotel, neither its quality was good. You can take food easily just outside of the hotel. There are many Panjabi Dhabas which cater good quality of food with reasonable price.
Wish you all the best.

I stayed on the Chicago Houseboat. (web site of kashmirihouseboats.com) I have written elsewhere in the forum about it. I loved it, and would recommend it to any and all. Altogether I spent six weeks there. Great food, good beds, wonderful hosts, and a stunning environment.
