Sitka Travel Forum

We want to immerse ourselves in the culture of Sitka. We will be docking there in September 11, from 8 am to 5pm and would like to unload some pink dollars. Interested in events, history, tours, coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, fishing, anything you have to offer. We would love to support any local gay business, but we do not exclude any good services.

you won't be able to immerse yourself in the culture of sitka in 9 hours....but, sitka is AWESOME!!! don't think there are any gay businesses, but there are a few quaint shops....PLEASE only spend your "pink" dollars in locally owned shops (there are signs on the window)...you can cover the whole downtown (lots of touristy shops) in the alloted time, but won't get to explore the outskirts...go to the visitor's center....there is a really neat russian dance show 2 times (i think) a day...definitely worth seeing...have coffee at the highliner coffee company or tealicious (both are worth it)....visit the local soap shop (across from the visitors center)....and if time allows, walk through totem park....sitka also has fishing charters and amazing kayaking...but, trying to fit it all in would be a crazy feat....have fun!!!!
