Melaka beaches

Hi there.

Can someone tell what the beaches around Melaka are like around the begining of April?

I really like the sound of the town.
I had been thinking of travelling up to Penang from S'pore but as Melaka is so much closer I think we'll go there instead. The only thing is we're a family with 8 & 10 year olds and we'd really like to combine Malaysian culture with a nice beach, on a back backers budget.
Can this be done in Melaka?

Thanks for the help.

Weather in Malaysia is always Sunny and humid. around 33 degree celcius. No worries too much about bad weather. Therefore beaches in malaysia is very safe. You need sun block as Sun in Malaysia is always regards as 'very strong', especially with kids around. Not sure about any accomodation there. Must try the chicken rice balls there. It is a typical Melaka cuisine, which you do not find it other parts of Malaysia. Hope you enjoy your family and you enjoy there.

Hi there,

Thank you for considering Melaka for your holiday. It has a lot of similarity to Penang, only smaller and hence attractions are fewer. You can however spend one or two nights here. Try to arrange to stay in one of the weekend night as the night market in Jonker Walk is one of the best in Malaysia (not for counterfeit stuff but more for local food, craft and culture).

There is an alright beach in northern part of Melaka namely Tanjung Bidara but it is almost an hour from Melaka town and the only resort is not good and there is nothing else to do.

Another option for beach is take a boat to Pulau Besar (15mins) and see if you like to stay in there for a night. The beach is nice to look at but swimming may not be advisable as there may be jelly fish. Have a day trip and if you like it, choose a place to stay on the day or next day.
