T'bilisi love poetry

my daughter margaret, who was a peace corps volunteer in georgia recently in magharo in the khaketi region, is marrying her peace corps sweetheart andrew (abacha) on july 28th. i spent two summers visiting them and travelling around and can see why they love it there . since i have been asked to say something at the ceremony, i thought i would like a georgian love poem (not too long)...thought i might ask one of the returned peace corps volunteers who will be at the wedding to do it in georgian as well.

i've been scouring the web, etc. but keep finding either historical dramatic epics or tragic love stories! any suggestions, ideas???

best regards to all especially any peace corps volunteers , ann lynn puddu (pcv morocco 61-65).

What a great story. Georgia is the kind of place you fall in love with...and, great to fall in love there too.

While this isn't a poem, and takes place in Azerbaijan and not Georgia, you may want to try to take a passage from the incredible love story Ali & Nino, which is a remarkable little book about the love between an Azeri boy and Georgian girl.

Other than that, I guess I only know of Rustaveli and the street named after him, and the historical epics!

Congrats and good luck finding something perfect!

You might consider looking up The Man in the Panther's Skin, by Rustavelli. It's the traditional epic poem of Georgia. You can find the whole thing HERE: http://www.sacred-texts.com/asia/mps/index.htm
