China booking flight from Ctrip
Posted: Wed July 11, 2007 11:21 AM UTC
Hello,
Does anyone here ever booked flight ticket from Ctrip online? I always could not finished the booking because there always a "like socket error page" in Chinese language appeared. And I dont know what error I made and there was not any "continue" button. That error always appeared after I filled in credit card information.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance

I booked through ctrip once, but I did it over the phone. IIRC they could accept bank transfers online but not foreign credit cards (as of august last year, things might have changed) so they had a courier meet me at my hotel in Beijing to trade the tickets for cash. Bit odd, but the price was too good to pass up

Thank you for your advice.
Finally I can call them, and they allow me to book via email because I need ticket for 8 persons. I still wait for their reply.
You are right, it is not simple but they offer cheaper price than other travel agent.

Ctrip is a reputable (and largest in China?) online travel agency. Its stock is publicly traded on Nasdaq (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ctrp).

I've bought airline tickets and reserved hotel with Ctrip. I didn't have any issue. But for airline ticket, they deliver ticket to you in China and collect cash on delivery. I had to have them deliver to a friend in China to secure the price/seat before I get to China. Also, the price shows on their web site (such as xx% off), is NOT real time updated. Sometimes the good price you see is not available. You have to call them to find out the latest price.

Hope these helps.
