Hi! What is the best way to travel from Jaipur to Calcatta, bus/ train/ flight?
I plan to go to CALCATTA in November, is the weather pleasant? At what time is the sunset/ sunrise?
Is it safe to travel around India, alone?
Thanks!

1) best way is to take a flight - about 2 hrs flight

2) next option by train - about 30+ hours

3) Nov weather in Kolkata (Calcutta - as it is now known) is fine

4) During Nov Sunrise: 5:45, sunset: 5:30

5) Yes, it is safe unless you take basic precaution - like not venturing alone in the middle of the night, avoiding shady places.

6) I am from Kolkata. If you need any further help you can email me

hello from jaipur,

well, there are trains daily from jaipur to kolkata and the 2nd class ac fare is about 1300 indian rupees, 1st class ac fare is about 1900 rupees and it takes 27 hrs to reach there..the train starts at 11 pm at night. bookings can be done at the indian rail website.

we also have direct flights from jaipur to kolkata--kingfisher airlines and the fare is about 5600 rupees.

kolkata will be hot but not sultry in nov. its best in dec or jan though.

you musy see the victoria memorial there and take a boat ride on the ganges at sunset....

enjoy the city of joy after the pink city.....

Neilash & Shoma have already guided you. Perhaps Kolkata is the most safe cities among all the cities of India. It is cheap too. In case you are interested to afford then Air Travel is the answer! But train journey in India is quite pleasant incase you mix and enjoy with us. You may find enjoyable though smelly. That's a bonus in a hot country with population explosion, but here people are warm and smiling despite all adversity in life.
