Skagway	Yukon White Pass by Rail Or Coach Posted: Tue July 10, 2007 04:00 AM UTC Is it better scenic wise to go on the Yukon Rail to the White Pass Summit or take a coach trip to the Summit which includes lake Bennett? I believe the coach shares a bit of the common route with the rail but what about the rest?? How is the weather end August out there? Visibility etc? Is it better scenic wise to go on the Yukon Rail to the White Pass Summit or take a coach trip to the Summit which includes lake Bennett?

I believe the coach shares a bit of the common route with the rail but what about the rest??

How is the weather end August out there? Visibility etc?

The only way a coach tour can see Lake Bennett is by going to Carcross, a 67 mile drive from Skagway (making it a substantially better trip than the short Summit train). There are trips that take the train to Fraser (7 miles past the Summit), and then coach to Carcross - that's better yet, as the train to the Summit is speactacular (similar but far better than the highway).
