| Machu Picchu | Where to buy ticket to M.P.? Posted: Mon July 9, 2007 12:19 PM UTC
We've already reserved our train from Cusco. Do we need to
buy M.P. tickets and bus tickets in advance, or on the spot. Also, just how crowded is it at M.P. We are taking the 6:00 AM train from Cusco. |

You can buy the bus tickets at the bus-stop and the entry tickets at the entrance of MP.As I understand it can be quite crowded in summer season.

You can buy the bus tickets and tickets to M.P. on the spot. Buses leave every 15 minutes or so. If you are taking the early train into Aguas Calientes you will arrive well before the second more crowded train arrives. The people who have been staying in Aguas Calientes and the hikers will already be there. But it wasn't too bad. By the time you have walked around M.P. for a bit and are ready to go, the second train with tons of people will have arrived. This is how I did it back in July 2005.

If you have time to spare in Cusco, buy your ticket there. That way, you avoid the lines in Aguas Calientes or at the Entrance to Machu Pichu. Any tour agency will tell you where to get your tickets. Just walk into one of them and ask.
