| Port Dickson | Avillion Resort (Help) Posted: Sun July 8, 2007 10:15 AM UTC
Hi Everyone!!
I am staying at Avillion Resort for 1day and half. Fist trip to Malaysia so need any tips would be appreciated. I am going there from Kuala Lumpur by taxi. (key point-expense) 1)How much the fare would be suitable by taxi? 2)The distance from the resort to town. (Is it available reach the town on foot or should take a taxi how much will it be?) 3)Food : Good resaturants near the resort or town. I heard about the resort from my Malay friend that it's a tasty but rather expensive. Is it so? Do you think it's a bit funny going to the town to have a meal staying in the resort? 4) Any tips to look around or things to do? 5) Any tips about Avillion Resort? Can't wait to go Malaysia and pls comment many feedback!! Thank you in advance. |

Hi!
Why taxi to KL? Take a bus, it`s silly to mention the price, 6-7 rm, 2 hours ride. Taxi shouldn`t be expensive if you split the costs. Anyway, maybe it`s already arranged. Dinning in resorts can be expensive, especially in Avallion Resort. You can go to the downtown or take a meal from local food stalls. It`s Malay thing, it`s normal to eat outside at food stalls. I was in Bayu Beach Resort and opposite to it were a couple of satisfying stalls. Also on the same trait to the downtown is a market place and couple of restaurants. The beach is nothing special, even though it`s too shallow. You`ll mention something is moving by standing in the water. Baby crabs, personally i didn`t like it. That is why every hotel has a pool. Btw, your hotel is amazing. www.hotelportdickson.net/index.html Have a great time! Jelena

Taxi would be very expensive - I would think easily about RM 200 cos the drive is about 2 hours away from KL (at least). This seem like a very short trip - so in the end your transportation cost using taxi would be very high. How many of you going - if it is about 4 then it is OK to split the cost.
Resort to town - unable to reach by foot - Avillion located along the beach the whole stretch is only resorts / hotels. You need a taxi / hotel shuttle to get to town. I suggest you check with the hotel on the shuttle hours and cost - drop them an email. Food in hotels are more expensive are not so nice but your constraint is the transportation, so in the end even if you eat out, it may not be worth the money - might as well eat in the resort. Avillion Resort - depends are you staying at the garden chalet or water chalet. Water chalet are nicer and the views are nicer. Garden chalet is very normal - like a normal hotel. Where else are u going in Malaysia? 1.5 days visit seem very brief.
