| Tunis | Accommodation in Tunis Posted: Sat July 7, 2007 01:32 AM UTC
I will be arriving alone in Tunis late on Tuesday August 7th for a two night stay before heading off to the south. Can anyone suggest some cheap accommodation, preferrably in the Old City? If anyone needs a companion to travel with for a few days in Tunisia, I am easy to get along with.

You could try the Medina, above a big cafe on the square near Bab el Bahr (entrance to the old city), or the Marhaba, on the opposite side of the square. If they are full, ask for directions to the Hotel Milano, just inside the old city...there are plenty other hotels in the old city, but late at night is not the best time to get lost in this area, as it has a bad reputation after dark.
If you're stuck, there are quite a few cheap hotels in the streets just outside the old city, like Hotel Qatar and Hotel al-Quds, off rue Mongi Slim.
