New Hampshire Hiking off K Hwy
Posted: Thu July 5, 2007 08:40 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I am going hiking in a couple of weeks in NH and I am trying to find a place I went when I was little. I remember my parents would take me to Lincoln. We would drive not too far down the K hwy and park. We would stay right on a path, along the riverside and walk for about 2 miles until we came upon platforms for tents. A little further down there are water falls in wich my dad would hold my hands and I would sit inside the carved rock. The water would shoot me out into a pool. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Oooh! That sounds cool! Bookmarking because I want to know where that is too! I've camped in various campgrounds along the Kancamagus since the 70's but I don't recall any platforms for tents. We always pitched the tent right on the ground. . . I wonder if you guys parked at Rocky Gorge and then walked down to Lower Falls? Both are well-marked picnic areas so you can't miss 'em. There is a chute at Lower Falls that sounds like what you describe but I don't think there is or was any tent camping between Rocky Gorge & Lower Falls and I'm not even sure if there is a path that runs between them. . . Jigger Johnson campground does have some campsites along the river so maybe you passed by it on your walk. The water is pretty level by the camp sites but there may be falls a bit down river. Good luck!
