I'm flying in and out of the airport in Leon. Has anybody travelled by bus from there to Zacatecas? I'll need to look up the schedule so I can coordinate my flights, but I'm wondering how far from the airport the bus station in Leon is, cost of cab, etc, so any info is appreciated!

Yes I have. I used to live in Zacatecas and traveled often to Leon and Aguascalientes.

Be prepare at least with 40 USD the least for 1 way trip. Maybe expect to spend 50 USD just in case, i forgot about the cab from the terminal in zac to downtown if it's your case.

The bus Leon-zac will run in about 178 pesos.. expect to pay another 150 aprox for the taxi, they usually charge more than 100 pesos from the trips Airport-city.

The airport and the bus station in Leon are in a very interesting distance where the ride Airport-bus station will run around 100 pesos at least, as far as I remember. They might have increase it, they might have not, but they usually charge around 100 to 150 from the airport to almost anywher in the city, at almost any city.

The bus station in Leon is in the commercial zone, you will easily find a bus to zacatecas, it will take around 4 hrs, it takes 3 by car and sometimes 4 by bus, it will stop at aguascalientes terminal and then it will be another hour and half as minimum. You can either ride an autobus DE PASO or DIRECTO, if you take DE PASO, just make sure you don't miss the terminal in your destination.

Just make your numbers right, i usually add a bit more of cash of the amount that you really spend, but it's not that big. You can easily jump into a lower class bus and save a bit extra $. Taxis are what usually give a big bite to the budget, specially the one in Leon, the airport is not right near the city, it takes an avenue and the city has a good size. It's not the same case in the one in Zacatecas, that shouldn't be more than 80 or even 60 pesos I THINK.. the bus terminal is near the city so it shouldn't increase the spend much.

Flying to Leon or to Zacatecas may be similar in price, both are international airport but the demans is not as high as in Guadalajara or those big cities.

Maybe because the comfort of just arriving to your main destination might be worth it than sitting down for a few more hours, depends a lot of the time of your arrival and how many hours you already have sitting down in your.
