Hiya,

Does anyone know if one can distinctly see:
1. Sognefjord
2. Jostedalsbreen AND
3. Geirangerfjord, from a flight Bergen-Ålesund?

It all depends on the weather of course, but I wouldn't count on seeing these spots by plane. Recently the airliner Wideroe was told not to do any special or extra tours above any city or tourist spots only for viewing reasons. This company tended to give this extra sightsseing service on commercial flights, but now this will end. I also believe it is SAS that does the Bergen-Ålesund flight. If you want to see the glacier of Jostedal you had better go by road. http://www.brevegen.no/eng-index.htm

I was hoping to catch some views, enough to whet my appetite for a closer look by road, during another trip ;)

Considering it's a short flight, some terrain must be visible? No fjord views then, even in mid-July?

I've been often disappointed by clouds and haze, you can't predict that enough time in advance. I think that your appetite is quite whetted already by now. Also when you look down from the plane even with perfectly clear weather, you don't get the effect of the height of the mountains, which you have either from the water or from the high road.

If the weather is clear (which it often isn't...:o) - then I'm sure you'll see *some* fjord landscapes (I doubt you'll see Jostedalsbreen though, isn't that too far inland for a flight Bergen - Ålesund? Same with Geirangerfjorden?)

I have some "Norway by air" photos on my Norway page (in a travelogue) - on one of those you can see Hardangerfjorden and the Folgefonna glacier (that one is from a Bergen - Oslo flight) - and I must say that the mountains and fjords don't look all that impressive when you're flying... :o)
