Bus travel Chile to Mensoza

I have the same concerns as one of the previous travellers, we are planning to cross between Santiago and Mendoza at the start of July but I'm just a bit concerned about the safety on the roads if travelling by bus. Can anyone recommend a bus company and is it generally safe during the winter season, would we be better to fly? We have about a week to cross so time isn't an issue. Thanks

The bus lines that serve the Mendoza Santiago route are safe, it is just crossing the high Andes in winter that presents a danger. High winds and snow storms can blow in suddenly and turn your trip into an ordeal. Once the snow closes the pass it can take a day to several days to clear the roads, so if you do not mind being stuck on a bus for a couple days then by all means take the bus. It is a spectacular trip.

Yup, well, I live in Mendoza and I agree with the previous post, all companies are safe, the only problem is when snow closses the pass. Cross your fingers and wait!
