My vote would be Hamilton although I was at both ports and had no problems getting to locations from either port.

St Georges is smaller than Hamilton so not as much shopping opportunities but a very pretty place. You can walk about 15 minutes to a couple of beachs, Tobacco Bay or St Catherines just a couple minutes further. St Catherines also has a fort to tour, for a fee.
Hamilton is the largest urban area with lots of shopping and the 'business' section of the Island. Beaches would be a 15-20 minute ride away by taxi $$ or bus (you can buy a bus pass and use them as often as desired while pass is in effect, 1 day, 3 days etc.) There is also a fort in Hamilton about 5 minutes walk from ferry dock and no charge to look through. Lots of other buildings and architecture to look at both new and old. Another destination for Cruise ships is the Dockyard with again another fort, for a fee, and quite a few store fronts for shopping. Any part of the Island is available to travel to by public travel, bus and ferry, which is a good deal if you buy a pass. Lots of taxi's also available but they are expensive. One option is to rent a taxi for a tour and share the cost with 4 people, gets you around a large area for relatively few $. Whatever suits you tastes. BTW some cruise ships dock at one place and then move to another for the next day so you might look for that option. We have never cruised there. We prefer to stay for a week or more and just take in the Island. Have fun! But then it IS Bermuda so fun is guaranteed. Bill

Shopping in Hamilton is fairly limited to 'boutique stores' as Triminghams's shut down. A. O.Smith's is still there. St. George's is more historical (since it was the first capitol of BDA), and I found more touristy. I think, depending on the time of year, Hamilton is much more diverse. AND, Harbour Nights runs through the summer.

Hamilton - wins by a mile. More central as well. From here you could go east (St Georges) or west (Somerset) quite easily. The best beaches are Elbow beach and Horseshoe beach and both are closer to Hamilton than St Georges. However NOTHING in Bermuda is far as it is a VERY small island. Hope you enjoy.
