Posted: Fri June 29, 2007 06:36 AM UTC
Hi to all, A couple of questions,

(1)I would like to know what is the best way to travel from Beijing to Xi'an, we are travelling in March 08. I am considering train but I have no idea how long it takes.

(2)Then from Xi'an to Guangzhou, is there a direct flight?

Anyone that can help I would appreciate it.

We just came back from taking the train from Beijing to Lhasa. Xi'an is the second stop. It takes abt 10 hours from Beijing to Xi'an. The train in Beijing starts at 9pm and gets into Xi'an around 7am, just enough to have a good night sleep if you get the sleeper.

I took the night train from Beijing to Xi'an in May 2007. Had a soft sleeper and was about 12 hours. I don't remember the price.

You can get flights schedules and prices at http://www.elong.com
I have some other travel links as tips on my china page.

1) Overnight Z train. Currently it takes about 10.5 hours.
2) Yes, there're most certainly direct flights for Xi'an -- Guangzhou.
Contact John (johnqingg2004@yahoo.com.cn) for any more queries about plane tickets or travel around/to/in Xi'an.
