How do you get to the place near Urumqi which's the centre of Euro-Asia? Lonely Planet 2005 doesn't have a clue.

If you mean the "heart of Asia" (not "Euro-Asia"!) monument, it seems it's a 30-minute drive from Urumqi in N.W. China, no doubt you'd have to take a taxi unless you can find a local tour: http://www.confluence.org/confluence.php?visitid=12710

It's the one near Urumqi, not anywhere in Inner Mongolia.
The coordinates seem to be E 87°19′52″, N 43°40′37″. 30 km SW of Urumqi.

Works for me! Did you copy and paste the whole thing? If it still doesn't work, google "heart of asia" monument urumqi confluence, I'm sure the page will come up then. But it doesn't add to anything I said, it's just a visit report.

you can get the bus from Urumqi which takes about 30 minutes. alternatively there are a few tour buses that also go.

HuangHe Lu bus station, Urumqi. Buy a ticket for Miao Er Gou. Get off at SaErDa BanXiang. The monument is there. The bus costs 4 RMB and leaves at 9:30, 10:30, 12:30, 15:30 and 17:30 and takes about 30 mins
