| Louisiana | shopping in lafayette and new orleans Posted: Tue June 26, 2007 09:34 PM UTC
hello! I'll be in lafayette on july 4th and new orleans on july 5th and I'm interested in shopping for two things.
first... cajun spices. where is a good place to stock up on some interesting packages of cajun spices. second... liquor. I have a tequila bottle collection... and although louisiana isn't know for it's tequila... I am interested in unique liquor bottles. and yes... the bottle needs to be filled with the booze. thanks! |

I'm no expert but I do know that you can find a great variety of Cajun cookbooks, packages of spices, etc near and in the French Market area. If you start at Cafe de Monde and walk towards the French Market there are several stores selling those items, including the store where they make pralines in the window. As an alternative, you might want to browse any supermarket away from the tourist areas- you may get similar or better as lower prices.
As for tequila bottles, as you say, LA is not known for it so what you see in one place is probably what you'll see anywhere else.
