Hi,
We're hoping to see Easter Island during our year in South America. I've heard there's a big festival - Tapati Rapa Nui - on in early February and we're considering booking our flights for that time. Has anyone here visited during Tapati Rapa Nui? Is it a good time to visit Easter Island or is it way too busy? Also, does anyone know the exact dates of the festival for 2008? Many thanks, Barry |

Hi Barry
I think February is a good time to visit (more or less the same as December when we visited Easter Island). In my opinion it will 'never' be too busy, because there is just a limited number of hotels/guesthouses on Rapa Nui and they are almost always booked. Perhaps a little bit more with the festival, but it can not be a problem. The dates for the festival in 2008 are: February 1 - 17. According to this website, the dates for the 2008 Tapati Festival will be Feb 1-17. http://islandheritage.org/vg/vg16.html
