| Doha | Doha-Bahrain day trip (not flying) Posted: Mon June 25, 2007 03:17 PM UTC
We will be in Doha for 5 days. We are thinking of doing a day trip to Bahrain, but do not really want to go by plane. Is there a boat or ferry that goes? Ideally, we would do the trip in one day?
Also, if this possible, what are the times/costs for 2 adults? Regards Jason |

from what I understand; there is not. I had asked my contact when I was recently in Manama about it and he said there were only connections through Saudi Arabia. Should be some cheap flights though; check Air Arabia. Enjoy!

Sorry, no ferries.
Air Arabia is unfortunately not an option since you won't be able to get good connections in Sharjah (there's only one flight a day, which arrives in SHJ at 1745 - the last BAH flight leaves at 1720). So unless you want to combine your trip to Bahrain with a further 2 nights in Dubai/Sharjah this connection doesn't work. The cheapest return flights I could find are about $200 return (with BA for some reason), Gulf Air charges almost double that. The only other option you've got is to plead your case with the Saudi embassy - although they're not very likely to give you a transit visa which allows transit by bus.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like we'll have to make do with Doha then.
