Blue Mountains National Park Hikes & Beers
Posted: Mon June 25, 2007 02:12 PM UTC
Hey all - heading to the Blue Mountains for a little hiking and a getaway. We are not there for too long, so can anybody recommend a couple of "must see's" in the area? And possibly two hikes in the 1-2hr arena. Thx! We are staying in Wentworth Falls, and I am assuming this is pretty close to it all.

Any local spots for a few good beers too?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Mike,

I spent two days in the Blue Mountains last December and I visited Wentworth Falls, Jamison Lookout, Rocket Point, Katoomba (three sisters and scenic skyway), Govetts Leap Falls and Evans Lookout. My fave by far was Wentworth Falls and Katoomba. The walk/hike to the bottom of Wentworth Falls can take up to 4 hours apparently! Leura is a quaint place with lovely coffee and nik-nak shops (but probably not your thing ;-). You'll be pretty central staying at Wentworth Falls.

You might try dropping a line to VT memeber Supercarys http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/b0417/ as she lives in the Blue Mountains and will know the best hikes etc.

Have a great time.....I'm so jealous! I loved the Blue Mountains...

Not sure of the pubs, but there's a great bottleshop in Leura that has a good range of world beers.

As for hikes, Govetts Leap was great, but they've closed it down due to bushfire damage. Good for a visit to the lookout. Go to blackheath, turn right at the lights and head to the end of the road (a few k's).
