| Purmamarca | Advise re travel itinerary in north west argentina Posted: Sun June 24, 2007 08:38 AM UTC
My husband and I are planning a trip to Argentina later in the year and will be flying into Salta and out of La Roija with 12 days in between. I am looking for advice / recommendations to help build a rough itinerary re the top places to go in the north west of Argentina, recommended time frames in these places and how best to get there - eg car hire, local buses, locally arranged tours?
Many thanks. |

If you want to visit Jujuy:
From Salta city, you can take the Balut Bus up to the city of Humahuaca (staying 2 days is enough). Then you can take the bus to Iruya (1 or 2 days). Then go back to Humahuaca and from there to Tilcara (1-2 days), then to Purmamarca (1 full day). And from there, to Salta city. And you have at least 4 days to visit the Province (Cafayate, San Lorenzo, or better to take 3 whole-day tours.

Humahuaca is wonderful, unfortunatelly I did not covered it in my photo´s page. If you plan to visit La Rioja do not miss Talampaya. Not too far is Valle de la Luna or Ischisgualasto.
You may found a video in my page. While the site is in Spanish, you only may go clicking into maps most of the time. www.fotosgc.com.ar
