Kuantan Travel Forum

Hello...I was wondering if any VT'ers know how much it costs for a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan and return..??...or how much is a public bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan and return..??...and are there any public buses from Kuantan to Cherating and return...??...And has anybody stayed at Residence Inn Cherating..??..If so,Is it comfortable and how close is it to beach..??...any information about these subjects would be most appreciated....Thankyou in advance...Cliff

budget airline air asia does not service the klumpur-kuantan route... you will ave to take malaysia airlines (mas)... the lowest fare that you can get on mas is about rm330 return... there are many coaches/buses that service this route... you can take the klumpur-kterengganu coach and ask to stop at outside the hotel... not sure about the fare but it is cerainly less than rm40 each way...

Jannoo..??..I tried that site you gave me but it seems to be full of viruses so i didnt continue..Thanks..!!...Chia..??...thankyou so much for your info...This helps me a lot..Now I just have to figure out if my lady and I should spend more money and fly and be at cherating earlier or bus it for much cheaper price but travel for hours...??...I suppose coach travel would be interesting as we could see the local countryside from our window..But then,as i am going to Cherating to surf,I'd like to be there asap...I have to consider spending(or wasting)at least one day,maybe two days of my holiday travelling on a bus to and from...anymore info would be much appreciated....thankyou.....Cliff

there are many coaches to kuantan... you can then take a coach or taxi from kuantan to cherating... the fare is myr16.80 per person and it will take about 5 hrs... check http://www.nadi.com.my/transportation_routes_express2.asp ... it would take about 2.5 hrs by flight (45mins to klia+1hr early check-in+45mins flight) plus the high cost of travelling to/from the airport... so the best option is either by coach or taxi... you can also take a taxi that will take about 3.5hrs for the trip to kuantan... note: cherating is about 45 mins drive from kuantan...

Thanks so much Chia...I will use your transport information to my best ability and will think long and hard about flying or bus....I will also heed your advice on taking the bus rather than flying....You make a lot of sense taking the bus option...I am so looking forward to planning my trip to cherating most likely around November early december when surf season is in full swing in cherating...You have helped me with so many decisions....Thankyou....cliff

Thanks for the flight prices re KL to Kuantan Paroov....However I do not know the prices for any guest houses in Kuantan..??..I havent been to Malaysia before and I intend spending my holiday in Cherating north of Kuantan...I am getting my accomodation prices and Cherating hotel location from the net and forums...I don't think guest houses are registered on the net...??..However,forums might tell you more info...Quite a few people cannot understand why I want to spend my vacation in a small village ala Cherating because it has no nightlife to speak of and just a few shops and restaurants...and very quiet...Surfing between November and March is the magnet which takes me there...!!!...And it gets good...!!....
