Calgary Travel Forum

Hello everybody!

I have some Miles to be spent until October, so I decided going to U.S. or Canada September next. However, I’m between 2 places, and I’d like to hear from you what would be the best option in your opinion: Alaska or Canadian Rocky Mountains (Calgary and Lake Louise from Calgary). Has anybody gone to both places to help me deciding the best place to go?

Never been to Alaska, but the Rockies literally rock. There's so many places to visit in the Banff and Jasper national parks that you won't have time to visit them all. Calgary is also very attractive this time of the year, lot of festivals and the Calgary Stampede is almost there. I have not been to Alaska either, but the Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper idea is a beautiful trip. I reccommend it.

Hey! Been to Alaska briefly but certainly couldnt say I have any great knolwedge on the area. From what I have seen of it and from seeing most of the rocky mountains. I would say that the calgary/banff route is by far the best choice.. as everyone else said ther eis endless amounts to do and this is definatley one of th emore beautiful spots in canada if not the world.

I have been to both and they both have their upsides. Personally, if I were to take another trip to either, I would probably pick Alaska. I do think however, that since I live in Colorado, right near the Rocky Mountains, I might be a little used to seeing the splendor of the Rockies so Calgary seemed to me just like a bigger Denver. That isn't to say it isn't awesome because it is, but I thought Alaska was beyond amazing. I don't think you will be disappointed either way. Have fun!
