Re: Name of Religious Store In Vatican, Rome Posted: Wed June 20, 2007 07:28 AM UTC
Well, mafioso, my first question - are you positive it was IN Vatican City, as opposed to just outside its borders? There is a neighborhood called Borgo Pio just east of the Vatican that sells all sorts of stuff.
There is a store on the south side of St. Peter's Square that sells primarily books (last time I was there), and there is a tourist kiosk on the north side of the square...but I would be surprised if either sold copies of ancient pottery vases.
The only place that I could imagine that would sell both religious stuff and pagan stuff (as the ancient vases would be) would be the museum store in the Vatican Museums themselves. But the Vatican website refers to the store, but does not have a link for it.
You might look at http://www.talariaenterprises.com/ who says they are a licensed reseller of a lot of stuff, including from the Vatican museum store (see the bottom). Also see http://emuseumstore.com/ and do a site search for "Vatican".
You can also browse the Metstore (the Metropolitan of New York) and again search for "Vatican" for a few items...http://www.metmuseum.org/store/st_Categories.asp/FromPage/catbrowsestore
Sorry that I am not finding a link for the museum store itself...
