I have read that some towns and villages have 'festas??' during the summer with drink and food etc Is this correct? and where can I find out about dates for them Again,many thanks in advance |

It is usually on fridays and saturdays. You should google for pages of towns you are interested in.

As for events in Istria check out this link.
http://www.istra.hr/en/what_to_do/events?&saoa_sv_un=1 Search on the right for Tradition and Folklore and such events will be listed by town (those fiestas are usually town’s patron saint). But there are also other kinds (gastro, wines, etc.)
