What is the best thing for a non-Chinese speaker to have on hand when using buses in Hangzhou? Is there a bus route guide I can get here in Shanghai before leaving, or is there something it is suggested to buy in Hangzhou railway station upon arrival?
Is there any site that gives detailed information for Hangzhou bus routes? I would like to familiarize myself with them before leaving. Even if the route information is in Chinese, it's ok: I can use the translator on my computer. I have heard that Hangzhou buses announce stops in English as well as Chinese. Is this all buses, or just the Y buses? Appreciate the info. |

If you're just going to the normal touristy places, then just either look in a guidebook (eg Lonely Planet) or ask here which buses will get you to what spots. Bus routes aren't the easiest of things to figure out, there're so many of them and they're all in Chinese. Even if you use a translating software to translate the Chinese website, that doesn't necessarily mean that the software will translate them correctly. Most probably not!
