Henan Sheng questions about ShaolinSi, Dengfeng and longmen caves
Posted: Wed June 13, 2007 06:41 AM UTC
The two places are nearby right?
1)in shaolinsi, Do they have like a show where all the kids perform martial arts? Or you can just see them practicing everytime? What time does it open?
2)Is it worth it to go Dengfeng? Or it's a waste of time?
3) is spending half day on both places enough? or it should be the whole day?

about longmen caves:
1) is spending half day (maybe the whole morning) enough? which is the best time to go here? morning or afternoon?

thanks!!

1) Yes. Are you asking about the opening times of Shaolin Temple or the performance times?
2) Yes, for Zhongyue Temple.
3) Yes, half a day for both places. I would say slightly more for Shaolin and slightly less for Dengfeng.
4) Yes, half a day for Longmen Grottoes should be ok, you might want to stay a little longer though. It depends on how much you like that place. For the main grottoes (east side), try to be there in the afternoon/sunset so that the sun's shining the right direction and you can get better photos.

regarding shaolin, I'm asking the performance time. Because I don't want to go there and then just to find out I can't see any kids performing martial arts.

also, is it okay to wear sandals (sporty ones) when I go to shaolin, dengfeng and longman? Or it should be rubber shoes? Also, are the snacks inside expensive? Because if it is, I'll bring my own to save more money.

There're quite a few performances throughout the day so I think you should be able to catch at least one of those, don't worry.
Sandals are fine.
Food inside tourist attractions (areas) are always expensive. Just bring your own.
