In Decatur, you will find Point Mallard Campground. A commercial campground with an adjoining aquatic center (wave pool, slides, etc), also several trails. Depending on when you are coming there are special events throughout the year. Memorial Weekend is the Alabama Jubilee (hot air balloons), 4th of July (patriotic celebration - beauty pageant, fireworks, etc), Labor Day (civil war re-enactment). www.pointmallard.com

North of Decatur on the line of TN/AL, try Crockett's State Park. You'll find info on it throught the TN State Parks.

For info on North Ala state parks www.alapark.com (Little River Canyon is great, Guntersville SP...several great places for you )

Hope this helps!!
