| Göteborg | Goteborg 22-28 July Posted: Fri June 8, 2007 11:25 PM UTC
Hi
I will visiting Gbg on 22 till 28 July, but I still in doubt. I am going from Amsterdam.. I'm in doubt whether I take the flight or go by bus. How to reach the centre of Gbg from Airport ( landvetter ) and bus station ( Nills Erriccsson ) I will stay in youth hostel, can somebody recomend me the hostel that located in the centre of Gbg? And how to travel around Gbg? the tram? how much the ticket cost? it is per zone, or can I pay on board? What about the Gothenburg Pass? it is only valid 24 hours? and what benefits from that Pass? And the foods.. it is expensive there? anyway I prefer to eat fastfood ( McD, Burger King..etc ) Hope anybody can help me. Tack! -LILY- |

Hello!
Bus is off course slower but perhaps cheaper. So that's really up to you. I don't know of any low price flights GBG-Amsterdam, but I haven't looked around either. From Landvetter there are flight busses leaving on a regular basis. They arrive at Nils Ericsson terminal which is at the very center of Göteborg. As for travelling around Göteborg, yeah the tram is the best alternative. More info in the mail I already answered. There are zones, but genereally the whole tram system in inside the same zone so you don't have to worry about that. Also the info on the pass is in your mail. Food is expensive, relatively. McD is about 45-55 SEK for a meal. Hope that was helpful Micke

You can only buy a ticket on board the trams if you have change I think as they've now installed machines rather than let the drivers deal with it. Micke, correct me if I'm wrong so they take notes too.
I think I've already given you links to hostels: www.stfturist.se and www.svif.se Under the first link, Slottsskogen and Stigbergstorget are the most central hostels. Slottsskogen perhaps in the nicest area. In the second link Göteborgs Mini-Hotel, Göteborgs vandrarhem and Linné vandrarhem are the most central.

Thank you for your help!!
I've made a book for this trip and I am so happy :) I will stay in Vandrarhem Linné, as another hostel is fully booked. I am sure I will have a great time in Gbg :) Regards, Lily

You are absolutley right Sjalen, and on the new trams you can't even pay the driver if you have change. So it would be best to buy a 100-card. It's a little cheaper as well.

Yeah, it costs 100 kronor. You can buy it in any Pressbyrån shop. They are spread all over town so you won't miss them. There are like three or four just in the busstation/trainstation.

everybody can be able to speak very good english in all around sweden, you will not face with any kind of difficulty to get the answers of your above questions if you will ask them. Goteborg city is not so big,you will easy adapt yourself into the environment according to my opinion.
