I'm looking for a small, B&B type hotel, clean, with just the basics for about 300 pesos a night in Zacatecas in September. Has anyone got any recommendations? I know of a great one in Gto that I like alot, but I'm thinking of splitting my next trip between these 2 cities.

Great Choice! Hostels: The best suggestion I can think of is Villa Colonial, the staff is super kind and it has a great location, downtown, just half block behind the Cathedral. Good choice... i prefer guanajuato, but zacatecas is ok, too... and in september i think is a big celebration in san miguel de allende, so you can check for "san miguelada" if it's in the dates you're going...
when i went to guanajuato... i stayed in casa kloster, like a block from la basilica (as far as i remember), in downtown, it was really good.. and in zacatecas, i stayed in hostal villa colonial... like a block from cathedral... it was really nice, and really close to everything... if you can book ahead... it'll be good... nice trip to the colonial cities...
