Melaka Need advice on food and transportation

Any coach tat goes to Melaka from Port Dickson? How long is the journey? How much per person? It will be better if i can rent a mini van (with the driver) to Melaka (one way). I also need help of how to book the coach back from Melaka to Singapore.

Anyone knows the address or how to get to the famous chicken rice ball and chendol in melaka. If I'm not wrong, both are near to the famous red building. Heard tat the chinese "tau sa pia" are nice too. Any advice on the whereabouts?

Thanking u in advance.

Hi, I am not sure there are coaches going to Port Dickson. You may ask if there is one at the Sentral Bus Station where you can also book for a bus ticket back to Singapore. Just look at the signages and buy the ticket if it is available.

The famous chicken rice ball and chendol shop are located at Jonker Street. Come evening at about 6.00 pm, the Jalan Hang Jebat becomes a pasar malam and if you walk near to the red building, you will notice groups of people walking across the bridge. Walk with them and soon you will arrive at the Jonker Street Pasar Malam. At 69, 86 or 88 Jonker Street, you can taste the chendol. The last time I went there on 3 Jun 07, there was a crowd at 88 Jonker Street. A bowl of chendol cost RM 1.70. You can ask for more gula melaka if you like it sweet. Enjoy!

Catch Bus No.17 (I usually get it behind Mahkota Parade, just before the bridge) to Sentral. There, you can choose your express bus back to Singapore. Some will stop at Yong Peng for a short break.
Chendol: I think the one along the road, opp. the red buillding (aka Stadhuys) is good. Daytime only. Stall has the shape of a coconut, I think.
Chicken rice balls: Just behind the chendol stall, across the river. You can walk on the bridge. It's the corner shop. Hope you enjoy it.

Don't miss out on the Pasar Malam at Jonker Street. The popiah there is great. And there's live music of the 70s played alternately between two open air pubs opposite each other. Cool :)

Hi, Raptor22,

Thank you for your useful tips and sorry for the late reply. We went to Malacca twice after that and we managed to enjoy our stay there. Yes, we tried the chendol but not at the daytime stall. We tried 88 and 89 Jonker Street - it was very nice! The chicken rice ball is so-so, nothing to shout about. The famous teochew restaurant near to Jonker St is alos over-rated. Anyway, Malacca is a nice place for going to for a short break. Cheers.
