| Mendoza | Advice needed for travelling to and from Mendoza by bus Posted: Wed June 6, 2007 09:04 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to catch a bus from Posadas to Mendoza, and then after a week move on to Buenos Aires? How regular would this bus routes be, and how much would a decent bus cost? Would I need to book tickets in advance? Also, could anyone recommend any good, safe hostels in Mendoza which have a great atmosphere and are good for meeting other travellers? Thanks a lot in advance!! Kat |

Oi Kat,
Well, you CAN take a bus from Posadas to Mendoza, but, it is a long trip. The fastest seems to be the following: POSADAS (MS) 19:00 PARANA (ER) 05:10 10Hs. 10min. EXPRESO SINGER Standard Diaria. PARANA (ER) 05:40 MENDOZA (MA) 20:50 15Hs. 10min. TAC Standard Diaria. The total cost, one-way should be around $200 pesos, more or less. If you can afford it, I would suggest that you travel by "cama" or "semi-cama" bus, which are usually direct, and a lot faster, and more comfortable. You probably will not have to buy advance tickets. One suggestion....you may want to to from Posadas to Buenos Aires first, and then on to Mendoza. As for places to stay, check out this site for previous answers and recommendations. Buen viaje! JAC

Hi, thanks a lot for your advice. Where did you find this information? I know that it takes about 12 hours to go from Bs As to Posadas, but I'm not sure how long the trip from Bs As to Mendoza takes. Do you have any idea? Are there any websites with bus information that you could recommend?
Muchas gracias!

Oi Kat,
Here are a few sites for you to check out for bus travel in Argentina: www.solobus.com.ar/frame_all.htm www.e-mountain.com.ar www.plataforma10.com This is a great site to find travel info for Argentina with some very helpful responses from Porteno, Rubia, Vtveen, Puppis, and many others. You might look up some of their previous answers for help with your questions. My other site that I check on for more info is google.com.ar. As for your trip to Mendoza, it will take about 13 hours, mas o menos, and cost anywhere from $110 pesos for a "comun" to $170 pesos for a REALLY nice bus. One last suggestion, be especially careful when you are in the bus station in Buenos Aires (the Retiro). I lost a bag there recently after being distracted by someone who asked for my help. Argentina is a great place to travel and experience! Buen viaje. JAC
