How much is it likely to cost to get a taxi from Portimao train station to Praia do Vau (hotel Vau)? How long would it take?

Not sure how much! I suspect circa Euro 20 including bags.

Time: 15 to 20 minutes.

We always stop in Vau and have taken a taxi from the station on a number of occasions but not with luggage.I think it was about 7 euros and takes about 10 mins(as we remember not that much and not that far)

It will cost about 6-7 euros max from Portimão train station to Vau and take about 10-15 mins max.

It will cost less than 8 euros to go from Faro airport to Faro Train station and take about 10-15 mins depending on traffic.

Have you considered travelling to Vau from the airport directly via Bus transfer? These mini-buses will probably cost the same as using the taxis and the train, take the same time or less but involve less changes and they’ll take you to the door of the hotel. They also pick you up on the way back.
